I am not quite sure about to present this: the C.V. style is too far-fetched and out of the website style. Declaration of intents is also out of the way. I shall just write a few things about me and Lígia and, along thje way I shall add details I find interesting or relevant.
Lígia is my soul-mate, the woman who made me go through enormous changes in my life without blinking. But since part of that story can be read in the item about Family, and also because writing about Lígia would be matter for a book, I will just say she was born in Madeira, her parents coming from the South of continental Portugal. By those reasons dictated by the comings and goings of life, victim of a curse: she is a teacher... She started this masochistic activity very soon in her life, and she really enjoys it! In spite of the days when she truly pulls the universe out of her soul to go to school, she fits perfectly into the teacher pattern, with infinite dedication, patience sometimes beiond any human limit, fighting fatigue of long hours preparing matters, correcting tests, in short and like many teachers I have known, born for the profession.
As far as my life, it is better to shorten... I have been in so may ways, through so many crossings, so many times down on the ground and restarting from scratch quite a few, too, I have done so many things and had so many jobs in my life: newspaperman, translator, bank clerk, teacher/trainer, bus and truck driver, not necessarily by this order, but my résumé, if written in detail would fulfill several pages. I believe every good or bad time throughout my life has enriched me, and gave me life perspectives I could have never had any other way. But they also brought me sometimes the bitter taste of nostalgia concerning the best moments I have lived, perfectly aware that every one of such moments will never return. At present I have two main activities: being what is commonly called a computer man, name I find funny for being so vague; in better words, I can say I work with computers, networks, internet, build websites, in short what is defined as "high-tech stuff". I am also a mountain guide. And I can add that professionally I am also happy, since both activities complement each other harmoniously. I like walking, I like nature, I like being able to wonder freely out in the middle of nowhere, pretty much the same way I like computers, internet and what is called "the global village". And I am lucky enough to be able to do all that simultaneously, doing both things which keep me in physical and emotional balance.
On the following Google map you can see the most important place in Madeira: where we live. Now seriously, this will be used to try a lot of things I intend to play around with concerning maps, but for which I still lack the necessary skill. One of them will be to show geotagging of the research field work I am doing (see the menu item Personal projects -> Madeira old roads). I shall get there eventually...
Clicking on the map with the mouse right button, you can drag it in any direction to show other areas of Madeira, and the embedded commands can also be used to have control over it. Unfortunately and due to some Google maps limitations, it is not possible yet to see some detail layers and zoom values, superimposed on the conventional map. The most completely visible items are the satellite and the hybrid details.
